Resident Portal: OTP Not Received and Unable to Retrieve UIN After Registration

Resident Portal: OTP Not Received and Unable to Retrieve UIN After Registration

Hi MOSIP Community,

I have deployed the MOSIP v3 on-premises setup without DNS on my own infrastructure. Most of the MOSIP stack is deployed and running, but I am facing several issues with the Resident Services and Resident Portal.

Current Flow

I have completed the following steps:

  1. Created a pre-registration application through the Pre-Registration Portal.

  2. Fetched the application in Registration Client.

  3. Captured the applicant’s demographic and biometric information.

  4. Uploaded the registration packet successfully from Registration Client.

  5. Opened the on-premises Resident Portal.

  6. Selected the Get My UIN option.

  7. Entered the Application ID/AID and clicked Get OTP.

Issue

Initially, the Get My UIN page was not loading. I managed to resolve that issue, and the page is now accessible.

However, after entering the AID and clicking Get OTP, I do not receive any OTP email in the Mock SMTP interface available at:

https://smtp.sandbox.xyz.net

Because the OTP is not received, I cannot continue the Resident Portal flow to retrieve the UIN or download the resident card.

Guidance Required

Could someone please help me understand the complete flow after the Registration Client uploads the registration packet?

Specifically:

  • How can I verify whether the registration packet has completed all stages of registration processing?

  • How can I confirm whether a UIN has actually been generated for the AID?

  • Which Resident Service, ID Repository, Registration Processor, Notification, or OTP service logs should I check?

  • Which database tables or APIs can be used to verify the AID-to-UIN status?

  • What services and configurations are responsible for sending the OTP from the Resident Portal to Mock SMTP?

  • Are there any post-deployment initialization steps, templates, master data, WebSub subscriptions, or configuration changes required for the Resident Portal flow?

  • Is the Get My UIN functionality expected to work with Mock SMTP in the on-premises deployment?

  • What is the correct end-to-end process for obtaining the UIN and downloading the card after registration is completed in Registration Client?

I would appreciate guidance on the recommended troubleshooting sequence, including the relevant pods, APIs, logs, Kafka topics, and database entries that should be checked.

I need support with the resident services as a whole. It is giving me a lot of problems.

Thank you.

Hi @shashwat

As you mentioned that you have set up the on-premises environment, you can use the Admin Portal to check the status of the packets being processed. The Packet Status feature can be used for this purpose. (Refer Admin Doc)

Regarding the UIN download, we have disabled the static OTP option. Therefore, you will need to provide a valid email address to enable the OTP transaction and proceed with downloading the UIN.

Hi @Varaniya1 .
Thank you for your reply.
I have already checked that the packet has went through all the necessary steps and the uin has been generated in the backend.
I am just unable to retrieve that UIN via the resident portal and need guidance for the same.

Regarding the OTP, I am providing a valid email and phone but I dont think that well be able to get the OTP on those credentials since right now I am just using the mockSMTP service? So since there is no actual SMTP the OTP should not go to the actual email as per my understanding but i should be able to see it on the mock smtp at https://smtp.sandbox.xyz.net/ that i have configured as per docs.
I receive my prereg login and all other otps at the same place.
Im again clarifying that i have used this documentation : On-Prem without DNS Installation Guidelines | MOSIP Docs 1.2.0 to have my own mosip deployment on my own infra.

Hi @Varaniya1
Awaiting your reply for this matter
